Olga Kurylenko to star in "Momentum"

Toronto: ‘Momentum’ Adds Quartet of Thesps

Olga Kurylenko and Vincent Cassel are set to square off in Stephen Campanelli’s action thriller “Momentum.”

Morgan Freeman and Shea Whigham co-star.

Colette Aguilar, sales president at Moonrise Pictures, “Momentum’s” sales agent, made the key cast announcement at the Toronto Festival.

Campanelli has been best known as Clint Eastwood’s camera operator since “The Bridges of Madison County.”

Anton Ernst, the producer of South Africa’s Oscar submission in 2012, “Little One,” will produce via his banners Thaba Media and Azari Media.

From a screenplay by helmer-scribe Adam Marcus (“Let It Snow”) and writing partner Debra Sullivan, “Momentum” has Kurylenko as a thief on the run from not only the law but also Cassel’s assassin gang.

Moonrise has launched pre-sales, licensing Andre Boissier’s Revolutionary Releasing rights to CIS, Eastern Europe and Turkey, key territories now for any actioner. Gulf Film has closed the Middle East. Grosvenor Park is co-financing “Momentum,” Ernst said.

“Momentum” is set to go into production on Jan. 13, shooting against the backdrop of Cape Town. Glen MacPherson, d.p. on Paul W.S. Anderson’s “Pompeii” and “Resident Evil: Retribution,” will serve as cinematographer. Delivery is set for the fall 2014.

“For the last 20 years, I’ve been blessed to work with one of cinema’s greatest story tellers, Clint Eastwood, as my mentor. Now, I will be making the leap to where I really belong, as a director, with the feature film ‘Momentum,’ ” Campanelli said from the set of Eastwood’s “Jersey Boys.”

“We are excited to produce an intelligent, action-packed movie that will have everyone on the edge of their seats throughout,” Ernst said, adding he was confident the movie would launch Kurylenko as “the ultimate femme fatale action hero.”
