NEW Interview with Danila Kozlovsky from Filmpro.ru + New picture (August 19)

He talks about his movie "Dubrovsky", as well as upcoming film projects, and a brief mention of Vampire Academy.

Do you think if you can call your character in "Dubrovsky" "hero of our time"?

Danila Kozlovsky

I do not always understand what is meant by a "hero of our time", when I asked this question. I am often asked about the same, when the movie came out, "Duhless".  I believe that they - the investigation of our time. By interacting with them, they show their own human qualities - both the best and the worst. My character in "Dubrovsky" is 25 years old, he a successful lawyer. By the will of family difficulties, he finds himself in a very different Russia, which has a very superficial view. Further developments that he is going through, changing his view of life, and the country itself.

What is the target audience of the film?

"Dubrovsky" can appeal to any audience, any audience.

Alexander Sulima

When people talk about the film adaptations, often note that they are not as deep as the primary sources. Do you think the film adaptation of a noble cause?

Danila Kozlovsky

Nothing wrong in the movie is not. If the creators are trying to find something in the product current, topical, necessary for the present - it is a noble cause. First, the very important reminder of the existence of a classical work. Second, it is called "classic" because it is always modern, in tune with the time. Another thing - a matter of style, taste and ideas of the film adaptation.

Today it is often filmed classics, world bestsellers and biographies of prominent people. In your opinion, this is due to a lack of new stories?

Danila Kozlovsky

Depends on the motives of directors. For some, the film adaptation of anything is the dream of someone else doing it, because it does not find stories. "Vampire Academy" in which I played - is a real international bestseller, appealing to filmmakers. At the same time, a certain ideological crisis, of course, exist. Good scripts never enough - but that does not mean that they are not. I myself read the script Russian authors, and I can assure you that there are interesting stories.

What are your future plans?

Danila Kozlovsky

Part of the plans I can not disclose because of the promises and commitments, but there is one very interesting and ambitious project called "Viking" directed by Andrei Kravchuk. Pre-production has been underway for a long time and, hopefully, work will begin in February 2014. This picture is dedicated to not only the Vikings, how much life of Prince Vladimir the Red Sun.

You play very different, sometimes diametrically opposite in character heroes. Can we call this approach is your strategy?

Danila Kozlovsky

I think it is a strategy of any artist - to choose a fundamentally different role to develop and do not stand still. Further is a matter of luck, people's desire to work with you and offer you these "different" role.

Would you like to play a villain?

Danila Kozlovsky

You will not find an actor who would not want to play a villain. In 90% of cases, it is more attractive goodie. But I do not want to play a "flat" villain. I am interested in complex, three-dimensional, well-composed negative characters.
